This book deals with health, nutrition and care as it relates to maternal child health. The module explains these concepts and how they influence the health development of mother and children. In addition, it discusses issues related to rearing practices, sanitation, primary health care, food security, child protection and safety. The book has placed emphasis on strategies that communities use to promote their own health using locally available resources.
Margaret Kabiru has a B.Ed. (Hons) and M.A. in Child Psychology. She has been involved in the development of early childhood programmes in Kenya, Eastern and Southern Africa region and has a lot of experience in research, training, curriculum and policy development.. Currently shes is the Director of Mwana Mwende ECDE Training Center.
Anne Njenga has a B.Ed. (Hons) and M.A. In Education Psycology. She was a lecture at Kenyatta University, Department of Early Childhood Education between 1997 and 2000. Currently she is the Training and Research Coordinator at Mwana Mwende ECDE Training Center.and also a consultant in early childhood development (ECD).
Both authors have worked at the Kenya Institute of Education for over two decades where they were involved in research, curriculum, training and development of ECDE programmes. They have coauthored a series of books in ECDE including, Child development, Foundations of Early Childhood Development and Curriculum Development and Community development, Training and Management of ECDE centres among others.
